Pinterest inspired Ottavio Crinkle Dress

My daughter Gabby fell head over heels for this dress when she spied it on our 'Checks' Pinterest board. And then THIS gorgeous Italian crinkle linen arrived - Ottavio Crinkle - and her pattern/fabric stars aligned to create this gorgeous dress.
For the bodice and sleeves we used our Georgie Top pattern, cropping the bodice length to finish 34cm from centre back. The sleeves were lengthened to finish at 29cm.
The neckline was widened so that the dress pulls on over the head easily. This meant that the back neck opening (in the original Georgie Top pattern) wasn't required.
For the gathered skirt part of the dress we cut two rectangles measuring 75cm (length) x 104cm (width). They were joined at the side seams and then gathered to the bodice. The finished dress length finishes at 105cm (from back bodice to hem) and the circumference of the gathered skirt is finished width - 204cm.
A quick, simple sew and already in high rotation on the summer frock front!

  2. I love, love, love this dress. Modifying patterns makes me nervous. I would love to buy this pattern. Makes me think of dresses I wore as a kid

  3. I am a little confused about the skirt length on this. I am 5'9" and the length of 105cm from the bodice seam is very long on me. Almost to my ankles. It just does not look like 105cm finished length on the model. Am I getting something wrong?
