Pattern Review - Vogue 2988 and 8283

This Vogue 2988 pattern is on the cover of our latest Vogue Catalogue at Tessuti stores. Vogue patterns have it made up in this classic herringbone tweed and it's a great look for this coming winter. In fact, it has been a very popular pattern since the catalogue came out.

But when Lindy showed me the outfit she made and wore to a wedding in our 100% silk organza I would have never guessed that this was the pattern she used for her stunning 3/4 length jacket!!!

Lindy lengthened this pattern V2988 to make a lovely long line jacket (she thinks she should have lengthened it a bit more - I think it's perfect!) in our 'French Navy' silk organza trimmed with gold on the sleeves and hem (from the sari fabric...see dress below). She also added gold stitching details on the seams which you may be able to see in the next photo...

The funnel collar is a very flattering cut and look.

Lindy totally doubled and self lined this organza coat which is ideal when using sheers as you don't want facings to show. Here, Lindy cut the smaller size and then had to add panels as it needed to be slightly bigger. It was secured with a bejewelled brooch. Worn underneath is a simple shift dress made from an antique sari of gold embroidered, royal blue/gold jacquard (purchased on ebay!) - Vogue pattern 8283

Lindy looks absolutely stunning in this outfit. I'm going to take more notice of the design sketches on the back of the patterns from now on as some of the photos of patterns in their fabric choices (along with often dubious styling) throw me off at times. Also, keep in mind some keys for dressing for formal occassions - stunning fabrics and colours in simple styling. Oh, and great accessories of course!
